Mandate

If socially negative attitudes are challenged when a person is young, these viewpoints can be replaced with positive, socially responsible attitudes, thereby enhancing an individual's and a community's quality of life. Further to this, The ARC Institute (Artists Raising Consciousness) believes in the ability of individuals of any age to absorb and respond positively to new information, which will improve the quality of their lives.

Through extensive research and contact with Foundations and Charities the strategy was conceived and implemented where filmmakers will come together with charitable organizations on certain humanitarian issues to "help heal the community" through media and storytelling. The ARC Institute was founded in 1999 with the following mandate to serve the Community:

a) To use storytelling to relate the concepts and themes of a charity's mandate. Multi-media and New Media will be used as tools for education, community issue development and personal development. These films and multi-media productions will be built around topics that have an impact on society.

Topics will include (but are not restricted to): tolerance, poverty, abuse, racism, hatred, self-esteem, self-awareness, and illiteracy;

b) To prepare and publish additional materials in any medium as may be necessary or helpful in the accomplishment of the work to which the Institute is dedicated;

c) To develop New Media techniques and styles of content in order to explore and develop the potential of traditional media artists using New Media to effectively communicate a greater range of material to a wider audience.
